Distribution description | Mexico to Southern Brazil and Paraguay. Introduced in Florida, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Hawaii. |
Notes on presence status | Introduced on St. Martin, a stray individual. Found in cargo shipment on St. Eustatius and later in 2016 a female was discovered on the island (Jesse et al, 2016). Iguana iguana from Saba was re-described as Iguana melanoderma in 2020 (Breuil et al., 2020). |
